About The Position

Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) is a globally renowned research university. The Human-Computer Interaction Institute (HCII) at CMU is seeking a dedicated Senior Academic Coordinator to provide senior-level support to its academic programs. This role involves maintaining program materials, reports, databases, and external communications. The coordinator will assist with preparing materials for faculty review and, if supporting a graduate program, serve as a primary contact for prospective student inquiries and the application process. The HCII focuses on understanding and creating technology that enhances human capabilities and social environments through interdisciplinary research and education in design, computer science, and behavioral/social sciences.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of administrative support experience required.
  • Strong organization, problem-solving, reasoning, communication and interpersonal skills necessary.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience in higher education and/or student services is highly desired.
  • A combination of education and proven experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and maintains academic admin systems and processes for the program including student registration, student status updates, ICC issues and requests.
  • Administers course scheduling for the department.
  • Assists with admissions process.
  • Coordinates or assists with program events.
  • Monitors undergraduate student academic progress along with BHCI Program Manager.
  • Provides backup support for Academic Program Managers.
  • Provides support for assigned program related faculty.
  • Processes program expenses, purchasing requests and other accounting related transactions.
