Semiconductor Power Devices Architect

Stellantis•Auburn Hills, MI

About The Position

Stellantis is seeking a Semiconductor Power Devices Architect to help shape next-generation propulsion electronics. The role focuses on selecting and recommending semiconductor solutions for centralized electronic controllers in electric, internal-combustion, and hybrid vehicle powertrains, including traction inverters, battery management systems, and DC-DC converters. The architect ensures selected components integrate seamlessly with vehicle technology and meet application performance, reliability, and cost requirements. The position works with vehicle architecture and system design teams across hardware and software, safety engineering, and purchasing. It provides application-specific component recommendations, benchmarks new semiconductor technologies for the STLA Propulsion product roadmap, and leads the technical aspects of semiconductor sourcing from requirements capture through supplier assessment and shortlisting. The architect also partners with silicon vendors, supports hardware engineering during advanced design and ECU development, and drives hardware architecture decisions for scalable, reusable, cost-optimized next-generation propulsion controller platforms. The role collaborates in a Scaled Agile product delivery team to prioritize, refine, and deploy components, while tracking propulsion-domain requirements, project milestones, and technology relevance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics, Telecommunication, or equivalent engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience in automotive embedded electronics design or a hardware/system architecture role.
  • Knowledge or experience in propulsion and battery domain ECU design, development, and testing.
  • Strong teamwork, oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a global team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an industrial or automotive environment, preferably at a Tier 1 or Tier 2 supplier.
  • Experience with power electronics and EV applications.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulations, including ISO 26262, Euro NCAP, and security regulations.
  • Solid understanding of embedded electronics design constraints at component and system levels.
  • Curiosity and the ability to think outside the box in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to multitask and be a detail-oriented problem solver.
  • Self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to contribute as both a team player and task leader.
  • Respect for and understanding of customer/supplier relationships, with a partnership-oriented approach.
  • Ability to present concepts, strategies, and project status to large groups.

Responsibilities

  • Select and recommend semiconductor solutions for centralized electronic controllers in electric, internal-combustion, and hybrid vehicle powertrains, including traction inverters, battery management systems, and DC-DC converters.
  • Ensure chosen components integrate with vehicle technology and meet application performance, reliability, and cost requirements.
  • Recommend application-specific propulsion components, including MCUs/MPUs, SBCs/PMICs, power FETs such as SiC and GaN, LSD/HSD/H-bridge devices, power-line communication components, and CAN, LIN, and Ethernet transceivers.
  • Benchmark emerging semiconductor technologies and introduce relevant technologies into the STLA Propulsion product roadmap.
  • Lead semiconductor sourcing activities, from capturing technical requirements through supplier technical assessment and shortlisting.
  • Work with silicon vendor partners to advance design features and technology roadmaps.
  • Support the hardware engineering group during advanced design phases, system architecture definition, and ECU development and qualification.
  • Drive hardware architecture decisions for next-generation STLA Propulsion Controller systems, considering KPIs for scalable, reusable, and cost-optimized platforms.
  • Collaborate in a Scaled Agile product delivery team to prioritize, refine, and deploy components.
  • Understand and track Stellantis Propulsion domain requirements, project milestones, and technology relevance.
