Semiconductor Power Devices Architect

Stellantis•Auburn Hills, MI

About The Position

Stellantis is seeking a Semiconductor Power Devices Architect to help transform its automotive technology and customer experience. The role focuses on selecting and recommending next-generation semiconductor solutions for centralized electronic controllers used in electric, internal-combustion, and hybrid vehicle powertrains, including traction inverters, battery management systems, and DC-DC converters. The architect ensures high-quality integration while balancing performance, reliability, cost, and other QCTP requirements. The position partners with vehicle architecture and system-design teams across hardware and software, safety engineering, and purchasing. It provides application-specific semiconductor recommendations, benchmarks emerging technologies for the STLA Propulsion product roadmap, leads technical portions of semiconductor sourcing, and works with silicon vendors to influence design features and technology roadmaps. The role also supports hardware engineering during advanced design, architecture definition, ECU development, and qualification; drives next-generation propulsion-controller hardware architecture decisions; and collaborates with a cross-functional Scaled Agile delivery team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications, or equivalent engineering field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in automotive embedded-electronics design or a hardware/system-architecture role.
  • Knowledge or experience in propulsion and battery-domain ECU design, development, and testing.
  • Strong teamwork skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a global team environment.
  • Curiosity, ability to think creatively in high-pressure situations, and ability to multitask.
  • Detail-oriented problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a team as both a team player and task leader.
  • Ability to build respectful, collaborative customer/supplier partnerships.
  • Ability to present concepts, strategies, and project status to large groups.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in industrial or automotive sectors, preferably at a Tier 1 or Tier 2 supplier.
  • Experience with power electronics and EV applications.
  • Knowledge of safety standards including ISO 26262 and Euro NCAP, and security regulations.
  • Solid understanding of embedded-electronics design constraints at component and system levels.
  • Familiarity with automotive safety, security, and quality standards such as ISO 26262 and AEC-Q100.

Responsibilities

  • Select and recommend next-generation semiconductor solutions for centralized electronic controllers in electric, internal-combustion, and hybrid powertrains, including traction inverters, battery management, and DC-DC converters.
  • Ensure selected components integrate with vehicle technology and meet application requirements for performance, reliability, and cost.
  • Recommend application-specific propulsion components, including MCUs/MPUs, SBCs/PMICs, power FETs (SiC and GaN), LSD/HSD/H-bridges, power-line communication for EV charging, and CAN, LIN, and Ethernet transceivers.
  • Benchmark new semiconductor technologies and introduce relevant technologies into the STLA Propulsion product roadmap.
  • Lead semiconductor sourcing activities, from technical-requirements capture through supplier technical assessment and shortlisting, including RFI/RFC/RFQ processes.
  • Work proactively with silicon vendor partners to influence design features and technology roadmaps.
  • Support the hardware engineering group during advanced design phases, system-architecture definition, ECU development, and qualification.
  • Drive hardware-architecture decisions for the next-generation STLA Propulsion Controller, considering KPIs and scalable, reusable, cost-optimized platforms.
  • Collaborate in a Scaled Agile product-delivery team to prioritize, refine, and deploy components.
  • Understand Propulsion domain-team requirements, project milestones, and technology relevance.
  • Work with vehicle architecture/system design, safety engineering, and purchasing stakeholders.
