About The Position

Come work as an integral part of our Analytical Development Team as a Physical Analysis Technician with a focus on SEM and Mechanical X-section. Your teammates, highly skilled analysts, perform analysis on materials, inks, and components using analytical instruments in support of R&D, product development and manufacturing activities. In this role you will collaborate closely with Engineering partners to help solve product problems and communicate results, while ensuring adherence to good laboratory practices in areas of safety, instrument calibration, quality control, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Support the R&D and Manufacturing community by working with Engineering partners to evaluate components and materials to characterize material properties and to discover probable causes of failure. This includes providing high quality data and detailed reports. Ensure partners receive results within negotiated delivery dates. Provide results in an efficient and effective manner utilizing SFT LIMS to manage task requests and priorities. Use lab software and systems to create lab reports and store images for customers. Manage priorities/workload or equipment issues. Perform method development, document developed operating procedures, and support quality systems through proper technique and gauge studies. Apply Expert level knowledge of the job skills to complete specialized assignments in creative and effective ways. Continue to grow understanding of the technical aspects of the job and the unique aspects of the products and materials inherent to our technologies. Work on assignments that are complex in nature and require judgment, initiative, and specialized knowledge to get to the root cause of problems and develop imaginative solutions. Work with minimal supervision; some assignments may be completed without established procedures. This position will be standard dayshift hours with occasional overtime opportunities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of demonstrated Analytical or R&D lab technician experience.
  • 3+ years of SEM experience.
  • AA/AS degree in chemistry, metals, materials, physics, computers, electronics or similar technology, or equivalent combination of education and job experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced R&D environment with continuous change, fast-paced program schedules, and urgent timelines while demonstrating strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage complex tasks and prioritize work.
  • Ability to work closely with technician teammates and engineering business partners to meet lab goals.
  • Ability to learn/operate advanced instruments in a non-routine fashion including set up, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to apply skills and understanding of the fundamentals involved in material sciences.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of routine laboratory procedures and equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Mechanical Cross-section experience a plus
  • Ability to act as an expert on one or more instruments and protocols.
