About The Position

The marketing function Enterprise, Regional and in Business develops and drives strategies to support BUs tactical planning for volume, product mix, share, brand equity and profitability within the North American Residential, Commercial and Industrial Building Segments and Non-building sectors. The role is responsible for the research and overarching tools to support a product and service strategy in the residential construction segment to support business objectives for volume, share, brand value and profit.

  • 7+ years’ experience in business to business or a combination of both business to business and consumer marketing roles
  • Proven Project Management skills
  • Undergraduate Degree in Marketing, Business

Responsibilities

  • Build a cohesive North America branded product strategy, leveraging the COLORBOND® steel brand in other BlueScope markets – brand value as measured by consumer awareness and brand equity to drive price premiums and volume through a complex channel to market.
  • Complete a fact-based market, segment, and channel opportunity assessment, including market attractiveness, customer needs, economics, competitive intensity, and right-to-win.
  • Define priority customer and influencer segments across distributors, lumberyards, dealers, roll formers, contractors, builders, architects/designers, and homeowners.
  • Design the target channel model, including channel roles, coverage, partner criteria, direct and indirect pathways, channel economics, conflict guardrails, service model, and handoffs.
  • Develop segment-specific value propositions, customer journeys, offers, support models, and activation plans for the highest-priority growth segments.
  • Create and govern the integrated commercialization plan across product, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, sales, marketing, digital, customer experience, finance, and IT.
  • Validate product-market fit and channel acceptance through customer research, pilots, partner feedback, and defined stage-gate decisions before scaling investment.
  • Establish a launch and growth scorecard covering distribution, partner activation, contractor adoption, leads, conversion, revenue, volume, margin, mix, and customer experience.
  • Build a sequenced three-year segment and channel growth roadmap, including capability, resource, technology, partnership, and capital requirements.
  • Maintain deep understanding of industry and segment dynamics, understanding market and construction trends.
  • Grow brand equity and segment share.
  • Report on marketing activity and results.
  • Develop influential relationships with industry/market influencers.
  • Deliver safely the outputs expected in the business plan.
  • Manage the marketing effort to lead and drive development & commercialisation of products & solutions to secure current & future segment share.
  • Develop / support the annual and 3-Year Marketing Plan to provide short- & medium-term strategic focus for the Residential Segment.
  • Deliver insights using existing market research as well as to determine additional research requirements. Develop briefs to articulate the additional information requirements.
  • Cost-effectively manage financial aspects of the Marketing Plan including budget planning, resource allocation and preparation of expenditure reports.
  • Manage use of BlueScope (BSL) and product brands according to overall Brand strategy and guidelines. Develop briefs to articulate the tactical and brand building campaigns required.
  • Lead a team to deliver growth in line with organisational objectives.
  • Support the co-operative program efforts and key builders, roll formers and fabricators.
  • Manage Standards, Codes and Regulations that may impact the competitive position of steel solutions in the residential market.
  • Maintain effective relationships within Sales, BDM/Spec, Supply Chain, Customer Service, Research and Development, Pricing, PTR and manufacturing & processing operations as appropriate.
