About The Position

Franklin Dental and Braces - Columbus is seeking a Part-time Travel Sedation Nurse to work 3 days/week (24 hours) and travel throughout Georgia. The company's mission is to create over a million smiles a year by providing quality, affordable dental care in a fun, compassionate environment. The Sedation Recovery Nurse is integral to post-operative care, demonstrating advanced knowledge of anesthesiology. This role involves monitoring post-operation vital signs, assessing levels of consciousness, and observing patients for any side effects from sedation.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Registered Nurse (RN) certification
  • Must have an RN license
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nurse in a hospital setting
  • Valid BLS (Basic Life Support) from the American Heart Association
  • A valid professional license within the state of practice

Nice To Haves

  • A Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) credential from the American Heart Association is recommended and may be required for specific registered nurses and travel nurse positions.
  • Recovery work with pediatric patients (preferred)
  • Other specialty-related certifications are preferred and may be required for specific positions.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize critical care skills to assess body temperature and track other indicators of stability or complications.
  • Administer diligent care via monitoring, assessment, intervention, and continuous reassessment.
  • Assess patients' condition after a surgery has been performed.
  • Measure, record patients’ vital signs and ensure that all vitals are within normal range.
  • Monitor patients for condition changes and report any changes to the doctor.
  • Initiate patient education programs to ensure that both patients and families are educated on procedures and medications.
  • Update charts, patient files, and records.
  • Determine when patients are ready to be released.
  • Collaborate with the dental team on post-operative patient care.
  • Perform intervention duties in cases of post-operative emergencies.
  • Performs to the highest integrity by adhering to all government regulations, company standards, and company compliance programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
