The Security Technician is responsible for installing project specific devices to the standards of all fire alarm, building and electrical codes. The installation technician will also mentor, train and coach the entry level technician who assists them on jobsites. This role requires the ability to bend, kneel, stoop, crawl, climb ladders (both caged and un-caged), and stairs. The technician will stand and walk for extended periods, and must be able to lift up to 75lbs unassisted. Safely operating a company or personal vehicle for business purposes is essential. Proficiency in using computers, laptops, and specialized software for programming and setting up security, access, CCTV, nurse call, or sound systems is required. The technician will coordinate with project managers and other trades, monitor outside contractor installations, and troubleshoot system problems or failures. Responsibilities include performing system inspections, analyzing blueprints, installing cabling and devices (Fire, Suppression, CCTV, Intrusion, Access, Nurse Call), and running conduit. The role also involves coaching and mentoring entry-level technicians, maintaining tools and equipment, adhering to safety policies, and communicating effectively verbally and in writing. The technician must be able to work off lifts of various sizes and heights, obtain lift certification, and use company software for service tickets and job information. Willingness to work after normal business hours, weekends, and travel, including out-of-town trips, is necessary. Continuous learning of new products and services through manufacturer and company training is expected. A high degree of integrity, honesty, and the ability to manage diverse customer personalities are crucial. Excellent people and organizational skills are required.
