About The Position

Convergint is seeking a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven, and forward-thinking Security Technician. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, programming, system start-up/check-out, certifying, and providing customer training on assigned projects, including small or less complex ones. Requirements

  • Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
  • Willingness to learn technical skills and/or experience related to fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems.
  • Be a self-starter and work well with direct supervision.
  • Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper).
  • A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to travel locally to jobsites on a regular basis.
  • High School/GED or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the Recruit Awesome People program by promoting Convergint's colleague-first culture and referring top talent.
  • Install, program, test, repair, and service a variety of systems and equipment, which may include security, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation, with guidance as needed.
  • Act as a key interface for providing technical support and training for the customer, accountable for maximizing customer satisfaction.
  • Refer more complex issues to higher level colleagues.
  • Be familiar with basic blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation procedures unassisted, and seek assistance with more complex specifications.
  • Interpret manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, and repair equipment, utilizing knowledge of electronics and using standard test instruments and hand tools.
  • Operate systems to demonstrate equipment, commission new systems, analyze performance, and identify malfunctions.
  • Write routine programs for systems.
  • Act as “our customer’s best service provider” at all times, ensuring Convergint Technologies is the customer’s first choice for service.
  • Consult with engineering personnel to resolve unusual problems in system operation, maintenance, and warranty work.
  • Advise management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, installation techniques and standards, as well as suggestions for product improvements.
  • Execute many of the technical aspects of multiple projects with varying timelines and budgets, including programming, graphics development, start-up, certification testing, customer training, close-out documentation, and on-going technical support.
  • Identify potential project risks, communicate to appropriate parties, and assist in the development and implementation of strategies to minimize impact and to control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager and/or Operations Manager and assist in the overall coordination of specific projects; make recommendations regarding quality of work and potential changes in scope, and identify ways to continuously improve customer satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
