About The Position

The Security Specialist II is responsible for responding to alarms, alerts, and emergencies, overseeing the day-to-day implementation of corporate security initiatives, and ensuring the proper functionality of security systems. This role provides guidance on site-specific security concerns, administers access control and badging systems, and assists with investigations into security issues. The Security Specialist II acts as the eyes and ears on the ground for Corporate Security Management, writes reports on findings and incidents, and supports facilities and administrative staff. The position requires staying current on best practices, prioritizing tasks, making critical decisions under pressure, and working independently. Strong communication skills, a good understanding of corporate security procedures and physical security devices, and the ability to collaborate with other departments are essential. The role also involves providing advice to business partners on sensitive topics and making recommendations for security devices. The ideal candidate will have a desire to grow in the security industry, handle confidential information professionally, manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, meet deadlines, and handle stress and change positively. Proficiency in de-escalation tactics and procedures is also required.

Requirements

  • 2+ years Guard/Security Specialist I experience required
  • For internal candidates, experience can be a combination of internal and external experience
  • Confidential security clearance with ability to achieve Secret security clearance
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to think on their feet and make critical decisions in high pressure situations
  • Able to work independently with little on-site supervision
  • Good ability to communicate in written reports and via email
  • Good understanding of Corporate Security Procedures
  • Good understanding of Physical Security Devices
  • Able to partner with other departments and be a representative of Corporate Security and Facilities to local senior managers
  • Communicates with ease up and down chain of leadership and to all levels of the organization
  • Professional with ability to properly handle confidential information
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Must have ability to positively handle/manage stress, such as high work volume and frequent change
  • Understand de-escalation tactics and procedures and put into practice
  • Strong ability to communicate in written reports and via email

Responsibilities

  • Responds to alarms, alerts, and all emergencies
  • Oversees the day-to-day implementation of corporate security initiatives
  • Ensures that all security systems and devices (such as alarms, video, locks, and door hardware) are properly functional and requests services as needed
  • Oversees security device installations and repairs
  • Provides guidance and recommendations around site specific security concerns to Corporate Security Management and other teams
  • Administer local access control and badging systems, as well as local badge deployment
  • Assist with conducting investigations into basic security issues
  • Acts as “eyes and ears on the ground” for Corporate Security Management
  • Complies with post orders to ensure security posture of assigned site
  • Writes reports on daily security findings and incidents
  • Supports facilities and administrative staff with basic facilities needs
  • Prioritize emergency situations, daily responsibilities, and long-term projects
  • Makes well researched recommendations regarding needed security devices at assigned site
  • Provides advice and guidance to business partners (such as Legal and Human Resources) around sensitive topics such as employee disputes and sensitive terminations
