About The Position

The Security Shift Supervisor is responsible for supervising the daily activities of the Security Department on assigned shifts and providing support for racing operations and other departments as needed. This role involves training, motivating, evaluating, and supervising staff to ensure employees receive adequate guidance and resources to accomplish established objectives. The supervisor must understand department objectives, standards, guidelines, and budget to achieve effective supervision. They will establish and maintain training and development procedures to ensure extraordinary guest service standards are achieved. Responsibilities include ensuring proper arrest procedures and detainment techniques are carried out for criminal law violations, and that all company and departmental procedures are followed. The supervisor will assist various local, state, and federal authorities in various activities and investigations. Maintaining current information on local criminal activity is crucial for protecting company assets, guests, and team members, and developing/maintaining communications with law enforcement agencies and security personnel of other casinos is also a key function. Resolving guest complaints and ensuring the highest level of guest service are paramount. The role provides support to departmental management during sensitive and/or dangerous situations involving terminations, thefts, team member or guest issues, and is responsible for transportation of "for cause" drug/alcohol testing. The supervisor will conduct training classes on various topics such as CPR, First-Aid, Bomb Search & Recognition, Disaster Planning and Evacuation, and accident investigations. A high level of awareness regarding criminal and civil laws pertaining to Belterra Park is required, and investigations may be conducted where necessary. Preparing complete and accurate reports to keep management informed of security-related incidents is essential. A designated Security Shift Supervisor will be assigned to the racing area to establish relationships and work closely with the Racing Stewards, reporting indirectly into the Guest Experience/Mutuel Manager and Director of Facilities for racing operations matters. Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.

Requirements

  • Completion of a high school education, or equivalent.
  • Two years progressive experience in security operations.
  • Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older.
  • Ability to maintain all Regulatory licenses within assigned state of employment.
  • Must successfully pass background check.
  • Must successfully pass an alcohol and drug screening.
  • CPR and Blood Borne Pathogens Certification.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Ohio civil and criminal laws and Ohio Lottery Commission and Ohio State Racing Commission regulations.
  • Basic knowledge of county and state ordinances.
  • Knowledge and understanding of electronic, video, and alarm functions.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Indiana laws pertaining to citizens’ powers of arrest procedures.
