About The Position

The Security Shift Manager is responsible for the supervision of shift security personnel, including Security Operations Center Operators. This role involves directing subordinates, completing disciplinary reports, and recommending discipline as necessary. The Shift Manager is also responsible for scheduling employees, reviewing timecards, completing performance evaluations, and absence reports. Additionally, they will have specific training responsibilities as assigned by the Security Director and will interact with and assist Casino supervisors and personnel as needed. The position requires the ability to exercise sound judgment, make logical decisions, and provide leadership in situations requiring tact and discretion, with errors having a significant impact on the property. Proficiency in radio, telephone, verbal, and written communication is essential, as is the ability to interact effectively with the public, and FM Enterprise employees and management. The role requires the flexibility to work any shift and hours as assigned, and may involve prolonged periods of standing or walking and lifting weights in excess of 40 pounds.

Requirements

Must be 21 years of age or older.
Must be able to pass pre-employment drug testing.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license from the Arizona Department of Gaming and the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation.
Must possess a current, valid Arizona driver’s license and have the ability to legally and safely operate a motorized vehicle.
A minimum of two (1-2) years of progressive supervisory/management experience is required.
Proficiency in radio, telephone, verbal, and written communication is required.
Able to interact effectively with, and assist members of the public, and FM Enterprise employees and management.
Able and willing to work any shift and hours as assigned by the Security Department or Casino management, or as necessitated by special circumstances.

Nice To Haves

Experience in civilian or military law enforcement or corrections, or comparable industrial security settings is preferred.
Preference will be given to qualified applicants who are members of federally recognized Indian tribes. To be considered for Indian Preference, you must submit your Certificate of Indian Blood (CIB) with your application.

Responsibilities

Supervise shift security personnel, including Security Operations Center Operators.
Direct subordinates and complete disciplinary reports.
Recommend discipline as necessary.
Schedule employees and review timecards before submission to payroll.
Complete performance evaluations and absence reports.
Provide specific training responsibilities as assigned by the Security Director.
Interact and assist Casino supervisors and personnel as necessary.
Provide Security escort services as requested or required.
Coordinate and cooperate with other WCR and FM Enterprise managers, employees, and local emergency services.
Direct the monitoring and operation of Security Operations Center communications, alarm, and security systems.
Provide guidance, direction, training, and instruction for uniform Security personnel.
Document exceptional or deficient performance and prepare employee evaluations.
Review Security Department documentation for completeness and accuracy.
Ensure the security shift is adequately staffed and assign personnel to specific tasks.
Directly supervise security services for special events as necessary.
Ensure appropriate notifications concerning incidents are made.
Ensure uniform Security Personnel properly use the computerized timekeeping system.
Inspect Security Department vehicles and equipment for proper upkeep and maintenance.
Perform any other duties as directed by Security Department management.
Exercise sound judgment and make logical decisions in situations requiring tact and discretion.
Establish priorities for the shift.
Exercise sound leadership skills.
Patrol and direct the patrol of WCR and other designated FM Enterprise facilities and grounds.
Conduct and direct preliminary investigations of reported or detected crimes and security-related incidents.
Document daily activity and preliminary investigations.
Ensure all uniform Security personnel are knowledgeable of and comply with the Tribal Gaming Ordinance, appendices, WCR Policies, and Security Department Policies and Procedures.
