About The Position

Supervise security officers and supervisors. The Security Shift Manager is responsible for the proper execution of job duties in the absence of the Manager of Security. This role ensures all employees under supervision fully understand their duties and perform them completely and promptly in compliance with company policies. The position also assists in the preparation of annual security budgets and maintains an up-to-date inventory of equipment within the Security Department. The Security Shift Manager supervises and maintains continuity of communications at the security control podium, conducts daily inspections and briefings of all uniformed officers, and ensures all emergency equipment is functioning properly. This role is also responsible for adherence to health, fire, and safety regulations, identifying potential safety hazards, and ensuring proper coverage of personnel during shifts, breaks, and lunches. The Security Shift Manager handles Public Relations calls and ensures proper procedures are followed on all investigative reports, supporting and maintaining Horseshoe Casino’s courtesy guidelines and promoting outstanding guest relations. Attendance is an essential function of the job, and employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect business needs. Upon employment, all employees must fully comply with Horseshoe’s policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree
  • Two years related experience and/or training; Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand 80% of the time, bend, push, pull, climb stairs, and run.
  • The employee is frequently required to perform tasks requiring repetitive motion.
  • Lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be physically fit to open doors, protect the guest, the employee, and the assets of the casino.

Responsibilities

  • Train, supervise, and evaluate personnel attitudes and abilities.
  • Interact with all guests and team members in a professional manner.
  • Assign workstations and department radios as required.
  • Interact with local law enforcement agencies as needed.
  • Promotes understanding of and compliance with all procedures essential to effective control within the organization.
  • Conveys the intent and spirit of orders and directives to subordinates.
  • Responsible for proper execution of job duties in the absence of the Manager of Security.
  • Ensure all employees under supervision fully understand their duties and perform them completely and promptly in compliance with the company policies.
  • Assist, develop and monitors achievements of long and short-term goals.
  • Assists in the preparation of annual security budgets.
  • Maintains and up-to-date inventory of equipment within the Security Department.
  • Supervises and maintains continuity of communications at the security control podium.
  • Conduct daily inspections and briefing of all uniformed officers assigned to the shift approximately thirty minutes prior to the beginning of the shift. (briefing includes but not limited to reports, procedures, photos, memos etc.)
  • Ensure that all emergency equipment is functioning properly at the beginning of the shift, (i.e., First Aid, Oxygen, Wheelchairs, etc.)
  • Ensure all officers regardless of situation, maintain proper radio procedure.
  • Responsible for adherence to health, fire and safety regulations identify potential safety hazards and reports such to the appropriate personnel.
  • Ensure proper coverage of personnel during work shifts, breaks and lunches.
  • Ensure that proper procedures are followed on the notification of all major instances including crimes, major liability on the part of the casino and/or hotel, major injury, death (natural or otherwise), major fire, etc.
  • Handle all Public Relations calls.
  • Ensure proper procedures are followed on all investigative reports.
  • Support and maintain Horseshoe Casino’s courtesy guidelines
  • Promote outstanding guest relations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Attendance, which may be modified by Horseshoe from time to time, is an essential function of the job and is required to successfully perform in this position. Team members with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality/entertainment industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the property.
  • Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Horseshoe’s policies and procedures for the safe and efficient operation of company facilities. Employees who violate company policies and procedures are subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
