About The Position

Apple’s Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) organization is seeking a Security Server Application Engineer to join JMET, which develops custom server-side security solutions supporting Apple’s security and privacy objectives. JMET services support hardware root of trust, system and module provisioning and certification, secure software updates, and secure repair initiatives. Apple products, with the exception of soft goods, interact with one or more JMET services during their lifecycle.

The engineer will join a new project team and build and lead large-scale security services, contributing to mission-critical security systems. The role combines technical work with collaboration across cross-functional teams, operational support, and occasional travel as needed. The ideal candidate is an accomplished programmer with a passion for security and excellent development practices, strong communication and interpersonal skills, initiative, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to mentor engineers and junior security teammates.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of relevant industry experience shipping critical deliverables.
• Proficiency in Java and Swift, or other object-oriented languages and associated frameworks.
• Solid understanding of cryptographic primitives, including PKI, ASN.1, X.509, authentication protocols, key exchange protocols, and post-quantum cryptography (PQC) algorithms.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated track record designing, leading, and shipping mission-critical security services in Java or Swift at global scale.
• Demonstrated track record leading large cross-functional teams on mission-critical initiatives.
• Demonstrated track record designing, implementing, and supporting large-scale security systems currently in production.
• Demonstrated experience presenting to senior leadership and executives, reading the room, and representing a project team appropriately.
• Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
• Self-starter who is comfortable with ambiguity.
• Passion for security and excellence in development.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and support large-scale security systems in production.
• Design, lead, and ship mission-critical security services in Java or Swift that operate at global scale.
• Lead large cross-functional teams on mission-critical initiatives.
• Provide operational support.
• Mentor engineers and more junior security teammates.
• Present to senior leadership and executives, and appropriately represent the project team.
