About The Position

The Security Sergeant is responsible for the selection, training and supervision of Security Officers. They are also responsible for performance evaluations, planning reports, investigation reports and disciplines. Requirements

High school graduation or equivalent.
Valid Illinois driver’s license.
No record of conviction of a felony, or of a crime involving moral turpitude.
Valid State of Illinois Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC).
Two years (24 months) of experience performing duties at or comparable to that performed at the Security Officer level of this series or in other positions of comparable responsibility.

Responsibilities

Interviews, selects and trains new Security Officers.
Assigns work assignments and schedules for Security Officers.
Assists in developing training curriculum.
Implements, disciplines and enforces policies and procedures for Security Officers.
Dispatches calls using radio; pages staff; prepares visitor and/or parking passes; controls personnel access by monitoring the identification of individuals entering controlled areas.
Interviews with witnesses, writes detailed narrative reports; maintains daily activity reports; records visitor’s names, confirms identity, issues passes, and escorts individuals within secured area.
Unlocks gates and doors; may drive patrol car while making rounds.
Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.
