Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least two years of certified law enforcement experience.
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Possess a valid Arkansas driver’s license
  • Hold current Police Officer certification
  • Hold a General Certificate from the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training (CLEST).
  • Basic computer skills with a general knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to properly prepare and write police reports.
  • Ability to communicate and maintain a good rapport with the campus population.
  • Ability to engage in and maintain control of persons by use of minimal force needed in required situations.
  • Knowledge of law enforcement practices, methods, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of law enforcement traffic, criminal laws, and departmental regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to enforce parking regulations.
  • Ability to operate motor vehicles used in work activities
  • Skill in the operations of firearms.
  • Ability to walk a minimum of 8 to 12 miles in a 12-hour shift.
  • Ability to climb stairwells.
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises Patrol Officers and Dispatchers assigned to the shift. Manages work schedules, evaluates performance, provides training and development, and ensures compliance with departmental policies and procedures. Escalates employee grievances and significant performance concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Provides safety and security services for the campus community through foot and vehicle patrols, traffic control, building access assistance, patient transportation, and monitoring emergency response activities.
  • Investigates campus accidents and incidents. Collects statements, evidence, and other relevant information and prepares detailed reports. May make arrests and provide court testimony as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
