About The Position

In this role, you will lead a commercial security sales team and support customers with solutions that strengthen performance, protection, and long-term value. The Commercial Security Sales Manager leads the commercial security sales team in a Johnson Controls field office. You will be responsible for building a highly productive team of sales representatives, driving revenue growth, improving profitability, and supporting both customer retention and representative retention. Success in this role requires strong leadership, sound business judgment, and a principle-centered approach to execution.

Requirements

  • College degree in Business, Marketing, or another related field, or comparable industry experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of sales experience, including 3 years of field sales management experience in a business-to-business environment, or successful management of another sales channel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with strong follow-up and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders and customer organizations at both senior executive and field levels.
  • Experience leading a sales organization with diverse team members.
  • Ability to work in a matrix structure, manage conflict resolution, and exercise managerial courage when needed.
  • Action-oriented, results-driven, and able to manage and measure team performance.
  • Financial business acumen, including forecasting and P&L experience.
  • Ability to travel nights and weekends to accommodate customer needs.

Nice To Haves

  • BA degree in Marketing.
  • Five years of security systems sales experience.
  • Two years of sales leadership experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and motivate the commercial security sales team to achieve and exceed revenue expectations.
  • Drive business development, customer development, territory management, data mining, professional presentation, and product sales.
  • Set territory expectations for customer touch activity, quota achievement, and sales execution.
  • Measure sales activity and performance to ensure marketing efforts translate into sales production.
  • Support job and channel profitability, revenue per user (RPU) growth, and customer retention.
  • Implement corporate sales and marketing initiatives and support business plans for assigned territories.
  • Partner with National Account Managers to help secure National Account business.
  • Work closely with other department and business segment leaders to align sales operations with customer and team needs.
  • Recruit and retain an effective team of sales representatives.
  • Lead with accountability, integrity, and a safety-first mindset while creating a respectful environment for open discussion and issue resolution.
  • Stay close to the work and close to the customer by understanding field activity, removing barriers, and keeping the team focused on what matters most.
  • Use data, forecasting, and disciplined follow-up to track performance, identify gaps, and improve results every day.
  • Win as one team by building trust across sales, marketing, national accounts, and other internal partners.
  • Coach with candor and support continuous improvement so each representative understands expectations and has the tools to succeed.
  • Balance revenue goals with profitability, retention, and long-term customer relationships.
