About The Position

The Security & Safety Officer monitors and protects patients, employees, guests, and property; preserves the peace; prevents crime; and detects and detains law violators. The role involves responding to emergency codes, patrolling parking lots and clinics in a patrol squad, routinely rounding on aggressive or security-risk patients, documenting daily activities and irregularities, and orienting responding law enforcement agencies.

Requirements

Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and deal effectively with individuals and groups in a health care setting.
Hold a valid driver's license and have a driving record in good standing.
Become certified in the use of the ASP expandable baton, handcuffing, VISTELAR, and a conducted energy weapon (CEW/Taser), and experience the effects of a Taser within six months of hire.
Provide a full set of fingerprints in accordance with Minnesota Statute 326.336.
Hold a current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider card before completing unit orientation.

Nice To Haves

Experience in security, policing, law enforcement training, or private security.
Minimum training and certification up to the level of EMR.

Responsibilities

Liaise with and orient responding law enforcement agencies.
