About The Position

Nevada Gold Mines is hiring a Security Operations Technician at its Cortez site as part of the Security team. The role supports mining operations by protecting personnel, property, and processes from harm, theft, vandalism, and unauthorized entry. The successful candidate must comply with state and federal health and safety regulations, company policies and procedures, and the company’s environmental compliance policy. The work involves monitoring security systems and access, inspecting vehicles and properties, responding to alarms and emergency calls, documenting and reporting security events, and assisting Security Systems Technicians. Candidates must pass a security background check and have a valid driver’s license.

Requirements

• Pass a security background check.
• Have a valid driver’s license.
• Have strong verbal communication skills for emergency call taking and taking statements.
• Have writing proficiency to express ideas factually, accurately, and concisely.
• Have functional computer skills and high typing proficiency.
• Be willing and able to work overtime, accept abrupt schedule changes, and respond to emergency callouts.
• Be able to multitask and remain poised during demanding situations.

Responsibilities

• Inspect vehicles, property, and high-security areas and recognize unauthorized items or circumstances.
• Work overtime, accept abrupt schedule changes, and respond promptly to emergency callouts.
• Write factual, accurate, and concise reports on daily events and security events affecting company personnel or property.
• Take emergency calls and statements, and communicate relevant situations to the Security Supervisor.
• Monitor refinery security systems and respond to alarms.
• Monitor access control and video surveillance systems.
• Train on the Security Policies and Procedures manual.
• Assist Security Systems Technicians as needed.
• Use multitasking skills and remain poised in demanding situations.
• Demonstrate professional and courteous interpersonal communication skills.
