Longwood Gardens is seeking a Security Operations Command Center (SOCC) Operator to serve as the primary dispatch and communications resource for our Public Safety & Security team. This role performs essential dispatch, monitoring, communication, and administrative functions to help maintain a safe and secure environment at Longwood Gardens.

Requirements

  • An associate degree in Public Safety, Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, or a related field preferred; or equivalent experience required
  • A minimum of 2 years of dispatch, communications, emergency operations, security, law enforcement, healthcare, higher education, or related experience
  • A valid driver's license is required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and knowledge of security operations, dispatch procedures, and emergency communications such as All-Call radio systems, OnSolve, and CCTV
  • The ability to remain calm, exercise sound judgment, and communicate effectively with internal teams and external emergency responders in emergencies and high-pressure situations
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and multitasking skills, with the ability to monitor multiple communication channels simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail
  • The ability to sit for extended periods while monitoring multiple information sources simultaneously, communicate by phone, radio, and in person, and occasionally lift up to 30 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • First Aid and/or CPR certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Answering and responding to incoming Public Safety & Security calls, radio communications, and emergency notifications
  • Dispatching Public Safety personnel and coordinating responses to routine and emergency incidents, including with emergency responders
  • Monitoring CCTV, access control, alarm, and other security systems
  • Broadcasting emergency notifications and organization-wide communications
  • Monitoring weather conditions and communicating significant alerts and emergency information
  • Maintaining accurate incident reports, activity logs, and departmental records
  • Tracking officer assignments, key control, staffing schedules, and daily operational activities
  • Maintaining knowledge of organization facilities, roadways, and locations to support emergency response
  • Providing administrative and operational support, including maintaining databases and submitting service requests
  • Ensuring compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and emergency response protocols
