About The Position

Vitalant is currently seeking a Security Operations Center (SOC) Team Lead to play a critical role in protecting that mission by combining hands-on monitoring with shift leadership. This role performs core SOC Operator duties while providing real-time guidance, coordination, and support to SOC staff during the assigned shift. From a centralized media room, the Team Lead monitors cameras, alarms, and security systems, ensuring timely incident response and uninterrupted coverage across Vitalant’s facilities. Serving as the primary on-shift escalation point, this role acts as a key communication bridge between SOC Operators and leadership, reinforcing training, driving accountability, and maintaining operational excellence. The SOC Team Lead leads through expertise and presence—working alongside the team to ensure a secure environment that enables Vitalant to deliver on its life-saving mission every day.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
  • Intermediate to expert-level knowledge and proficiency of physical security systems and platforms, required.
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and municipal security regulations, required.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a SOC, centralized monitoring, or security operations environment, required.
  • Experience in monitoring security systems within a centralized operations center environment.
  • Experience with enterprise-level access control and video management systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of enterprise physical security systems and SOC operations.
  • Ability to lead while performing hands-on monitoring and incident response duties.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong judgment, situational awareness, and decision-making under pressure.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and security monitoring platforms.
  • Ability to work assigned shift schedules and respond to urgent or emergency situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Verkada platform experience, preferred.
  • Verkada Certified Engineer, preferred.
  • 6 (six) months of senior operator, team lead or supervisory experience, preferred.
  • Experience working in a 24/7 operational environment, preferred.
  • Prior law enforcement or military experience, preferred.
  • Experience working in healthcare, critical infrastructure, or regulated environments, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor cameras, alarms, and enterprise security systems from a centralized SOC, maintaining continuous situational awareness across all locations
  • Respond to real-time alerts and incidents, assess severity, and coordinate appropriate actions and emergency response when needed
  • Conduct preliminary investigations, including video review and access log analysis, and complete detailed incident reports
  • Serve as the on-shift lead, providing direction, prioritization, and decision support to ensure uninterrupted 24/7 monitoring coverage
  • Act as the primary escalation point for incidents, system issues, and emerging risks, coordinating with leadership and internal partners
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system activity, incidents, and daily logs in accordance with SOC procedures
  • Lead shift handoffs, ensuring clear communication of system status, active incidents, and unresolved issues across teams
  • Reinforce SOPs and training through real-time coaching, mentoring, and support of onboarding activities
  • Identify operational trends, training gaps, and system issues, providing feedback and recommendations to SOC leadership
  • Support the reliability and enhancement of security systems, coordinating with IT, vendors, and stakeholders on upgrades and issue resolution
  • Partner with internal teams (Facilities, IT, HR, Operations, Safety) to support security operations, business continuity, and emergency management
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and confidentiality standards while fostering a professional team environment
