About The Position

As a Security Operations Center (SOC) Director at GDIT, you will play a crucial role in leading 24x7 security monitoring, incident response, and threat detection services. This position is essential to the customer’s cybersecurity program, safeguarding statewide systems, data, and critical infrastructure. The role involves driving continuous improvement through innovation, automation, and data-driven decision-making, and collaborating with various stakeholders to maintain a unified and effective security posture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or related field; or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of related cybersecurity experience, including 3+ years managing or directing SOC operations
  • Expert knowledge of: SOC operations, SIEM/SOAR platforms, threat analysis, incident response, and security engineering fundamentals
  • Experience with government or regulated environments
  • Strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high‑visibility incidents and stakeholder expectations
  • Prior experience managing teams of 10 or more, in a Security Operations setting
  • Ability to pass required background checks

Responsibilities

  • Lead/Manage/Support all SOC operational activities, ensuring rapid detection, triage, and response to security incidents while maintaining contractual SLAs and compliance requirements
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity leadership, agency stakeholders, security engineers, and incident response teams to maintain a unified, effective security posture
  • Drive continuous improvement of SOC processes, analyst performance, detection capabilities, and service delivery through innovation, automation, and data-driven decision-making
  • Utilize SIEM, SOAR, threat intelligence platforms, logging infrastructure, and other enterprise security technologies to enhance monitoring and incident response effectiveness
