About The Position

The Security Operations Center Dispatcher is responsible for monitoring alarms, security systems, and video surveillance for Mercyhealth. This role involves managing incoming calls via telephone and radio, providing critical information to stakeholders, and supporting security operations. The dispatcher must be a strong multi-tasker with problem-solving, critical thinking, and detail-oriented skills. They will effectively prioritize responses to routine and emergency calls, utilizing judgment and de-escalation techniques. Additionally, the dispatcher will orient and train new personnel and gain knowledge of the Mercyhealth hospital and clinic layouts.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent preferred
One year of dispatching experience preferred.
Basic computer skills required (e.g. Word/Outlook/Excel).
A working knowledge of computer systems is essential.
A basic understanding of healthcare security concepts is necessary.
Excellent communication and organization skills
Proficient in computer security systems.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

Prioritize responses to a wide variety of routine and emergency calls requiring problem-solving techniques, judgment, and verbal de-escalation.
Monitor alarms, including burglary, fire, duress, and card access systems.
Monitor security systems and utilize computer systems to track and document security-related incidents.
Remain calm in stressful situations and utilize knowledge of basic security concepts to make sound decisions.
Manage incoming telephone and radio calls.
Provide critical information to various stakeholders.
Support security operations through monitoring video surveillance systems.
Orient and train new personnel as needed.
Gain a basic knowledge of the layout of Mercyhealth hospitals and the location of Mercyhealth clinics.
