About The Position

We are hiring for all levels of security officer: All Shifts. The Security Officer is the primary responder for all safety concerns, security incidents and service requests at facilities owned or occupied by Seattle Children's. This role is part of the department's efforts to deter, detect, prevent, respond, and document concerns or incidents that risk the safety and well-being of patients, families, visitors, workforce members, and property by utilizing appropriate protocols, emergency response procedures, and/or non-violent crisis intervention methods. All shifts - Day, Nights, Evenings plus Weekends. Part-time & on-call, all locations. Part-time is benefits eligible.

Requirements

  • Level I: High school or equivalent experience.
  • Level II: Associate degree in Criminal Justice or related field or a combination of 3 years related experience in Security Services or related field.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 90 days of hire.
  • CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) Certification within 90 days of hire (Annual Requirement).
  • Completion of NCI Autism Training within 12 months of hire.
  • Completion of Seattle Children's Safe Firearms Training within 12 months of hire.
  • Safety Cares Certification within 90 days of hire if required for location (Annual Requirement).
  • Completion of Car Seat Safety Training within 12 months of hire if required for position/role.
  • Score of 80% or above on Seattle Children's Security Competency Exam in assigned area of the Security Department (Service Call, Emergency Department, Entrance, Surge, and Research) within 12 months.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License with a driving record acceptable to Risk Management.
  • Completion of Wheelchair vehicle Training.
  • International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Primary responder for all safety concerns in the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit (PBMU), both individually and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Primary responders for all safety concerns, security incidents and service request at facilities owned or occupied by Seattle Children's.
  • Deter, detect, prevent, respond, and document concerns or incidents that risk the safety and well-being of patients, families, visitors, workforce members, and property.
  • Utilize appropriate protocols, emergency response procedures, and/or non-violent crisis intervention methods.
