About The Position

This position is responsible for guarding property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry. The Security Officer will patrol buildings and grounds, examine security measures, and respond to rule infractions and suspicious activities. This role also involves monitoring for safety hazards, preventing theft, and maintaining an orderly flow of traffic. The Security Officer will maintain records of incidents and ensure authorized access to the property.

Requirements

Meet Florida State requirements for security officers.
Two to three years of previous security, military, or law enforcement experience.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Excellent communication skills (writing, telephone, and listening).

Nice To Haves

Trade school or an Associate's degree in a relevant field is desired.
On the job training and career development courses are offered.

Responsibilities

Patrol buildings and grounds to ensure security.
Examine doors, windows, and gates to ensure they are secure.
Warn violators of rule infractions and expel individuals engaged in suspicious or criminal acts.
Inspect equipment and machinery for signs of tampering.
Observe and report irregularities such as fire hazards, leaks, and unlocked doors.
Monitor departing personnel to prevent theft of company property.
Sound alarms or call emergency services in case of fire or unauthorized persons.
Permit authorized individuals to enter the property.
Register at watch stations to record inspection times.
Record data on property damage, unusual occurrences, and equipment malfunctions.
Regulate vehicle and pedestrian traffic at entrances.
Promote good rapport with owners.
