About The Position

Armorous Security is hiring an unarmed Security Officer for its assignment at the Port in Oakland, California. This is a solo-shift position in a federally regulated maritime environment. Officers are present at the port 24/7 across multiple shifts, and the assigned officer is expected to work independently while serving as the primary point of communication between Armorous and the client during the shift. The role involves significant standing and time on your feet, along with partly driving and walking tours.

The schedule is listed as Sunday through Wednesday, 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. The qualifications section also lists availability to work Tuesday through Saturday, 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM. New hires who join fully BSIS compliant may be eligible for a $100 hiring bonus. Full compliance includes a valid BSIS Guard Card, an 8-hour initial training certificate, and a 32-hour continuing education certificate.

Requirements

• Valid California BSIS Security Guard Registration.
• Current BSIS compliance, including an 8-hour initial training certificate and a 32-hour continuing education certificate.
• At least 2 years of prior security experience.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in a formal supervisory role or as a senior officer.
• Strong customer service skills and a professional demeanor.
• Strong written communication skills for accurate activity logs and incident reports.
• Ability to stand and remain on your feet for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Availability to work Tuesday through Saturday, 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Nice To Haves

• TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential); officers without a TWIC at hire must obtain one as a condition of continued assignment.
• Experience communicating directly with clients or supervisors as a site contact.
• Prior experience with graveyard shifts.

Responsibilities

• Check in and check out port visitors according to established access control procedures.
• Secure the main gate and help ensure unauthorized individuals do not gain access.
• Watch CCTV cameras.
• Conduct regular security tours, including hourly tours, and complete hourly activity logs.
• Respond professionally to access violations or concerns.
• Serve as the primary point of communication between Armorous and the client during the shift.
• Ensure officers assigned to the site complete their duties as assigned.
• Support new-hire training at the site as needed.
• Assist with coverage needs, including early-in, hold-over, and call-off coverage.
• Document incidents, maintenance concerns, and security observations in writing.
