About The Position

The Security Officer maintains the overall security of an assigned facility by enforcing access control, observing and correcting violations, and reporting concerns. The officer is expected to integrate Sizemore’s core values of Flexibility, Improvement, Reliability, Safety, and Teamwork into daily work. The position pays $13.00 per hour and has weekend shifts on Saturdays and Sundays from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Work takes place in a climate-controlled building and/or outdoors in varying weather conditions. The role involves extensive walking, standing, and sitting; may involve threatening situations and exposure to bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids; and requires the ability to lift 50 pounds. Uniform and grooming requirements include covering tattoos while in uniform, no tattoos on the head, face, neck, or hands, removing facial piercings while on duty, and keeping facial hair clean-shaven except for a mustache and hair clean, neatly trimmed, and a natural color.

Continued employment is dependent on passing a criminal background check, a clean motor vehicle record check if driving, employment verification, and pre-employment and random employment drug screens.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school graduate or GED recipient.
• Demonstrate commitment to service and professionalism through appropriate conduct and demeanor.
• Use patience, tact, enthusiasm, and diplomacy when dealing with people.
• Use initiative and sound judgment when evaluating and reacting to situations.
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure in potentially stressful, time-sensitive situations.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail, including the ability to prioritize.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision, read and comprehend detailed instructions, and process information accurately and clearly.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check, employment verification, and pre-employment and random employment drug screens; a clean MVR check is required if driving.
• Comply with the stated uniform, tattoo, piercing, and grooming requirements.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in security, the military, or law enforcement is preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office programs is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and secure environment for customers and employees by patrolling and monitoring premises and personnel.
• Document security activity in a Daily Activity Report (DAR) and complete incident reports as required.
• Control vehicle and personnel access in accordance with established procedures.
• Respond to emergency situations in accordance with established procedures.
• Operate specialized equipment as needed, including closed-circuit television systems, vehicle scales, and computer systems.
• Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities and informing violators of policies and procedures.
• Identify projects to increase effectiveness and efficiency and support a culture of continuous improvement.
• Enforce Sizemore’s and the client’s policies and procedures.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
