About The Position

This role involves enforcing policies and procedures with all patients/residents, visitors, and staff. The Security Officer patrols and secures facility buildings and grounds, monitors conduct of visitors, and confronts unauthorized persons. They report safety, fire hazards, or security violations and respond to all requests for assistance. The position requires assisting with problem-solving, potentially escorting personnel to and from parking areas, and maintaining records by preparing incident reports and other security-related documents. The role demands the ability to work with all age groups and prioritize calls for service based on urgency and safety needs. Security officers are expected to work in highly stressful situations, de-escalate them, and maintain awareness of local laws affecting conduct on private property. Necessary skills include effective communication with all customers, professional report writing, and the physical ability to perform basic security functions as trained. This position may involve access to areas where medications are stored.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
College or vocational education is preferred.
May require a current valid driver's license with Sanford insurability dependent upon region.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience healthcare security, contract security and/or law enforcement is highly preferred.
Basic certification by International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety preferred within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

Responds to all requests for assistance from employees, patients/residents and visitors.
Assists with any and all situation; i.e., problem-solving with positive outcomes.
May escort personnel to and from parking areas as requested.
Maintains records and prepares incident reports and other documents pertinent to security activities.
Prioritize calls for service in order of urgency based on safety needs.
De-escalate stressful situations as soon as possible.
Maintain awareness of local laws which affect the way individuals conduct themselves on private property.
