Security Officer - Shopping Mall
About The Position
Armorous is hiring a Security Officer for a shopping center in Santa Rosa, California. The officer will safeguard the property, deter criminal activity, and help keep businesses throughout the shopping center safe. The role requires vigilance, sound decision-making, strong communication, and a professional, customer-service-oriented presence. The position is in a high-traffic, active mall environment. Duties include hourly tours, extensive walking, periodic vehicle patrols, maintaining activity logs, and responding to incidents inside stores and throughout the property. The officer will interact regularly with store managers, property management, the client, guests, and transients, assist staff with conflicts or disruptive behavior, and document incidents, observations, and enforcement actions. The listed schedule is Sunday through Tuesday, 11:59 PM to 8:00 AM, for 24 hours per week, with the opportunity to work additional shifts. Compensation is $21.00 per hour. The job posting also offers a $100 hiring bonus.
Requirements
- Valid BSIS Guard Card.
- Current BSIS compliance, including an 8-hour initial training certificate and 32-hour continuing education certificates.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Strong customer service skills and a professional demeanor.
- Ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to remain alert, responsive, and proactive in high-pressure situations.
Responsibilities
- Check IDs of all incoming patrons.
- Conduct routine patrols and hourly tours to monitor and secure designated locations.
- Identify and report suspicious activity, safety hazards, and unauthorized access.
- Maintain a visible presence to deter criminal activity and ensure public safety.
- Respond swiftly to incidents and provide support in emergency situations.
- Respond to disturbances and policy violations, including incidents inside stores and throughout the property.
- Assist staff when conflicts or disruptive behavior arise.
- Complete detailed activity logs and accurately document daily activity, incidents, observations, and enforcement actions.
- Communicate security updates and concerns effectively to supervisors and team members.
- Interact professionally with store managers, property management, the client, guests, and transients.
