About The Position

As a Security Officer - Educational Facility, you will serve and safeguard clients at a prominent public library. This unarmed role involves monitoring and patrolling assigned areas, maintaining a visible presence to deter security-related incidents, supporting access control, assisting visitors professionally, and communicating clearly with staff and guests. The position is full-time and pays $19.30 per hour. The listed schedule is 7:30 AM–4:30 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Requirements

Possess a valid New York State Security Guard License.
Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; armed roles require applicants to be at least 21.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Undergo a background investigation as a condition of employment, in accordance with applicable laws.
Undergo a drug screen as a condition of employment, to the extent permitted by law.

Nice To Haves

Experience with access control and badge systems.
Comfort using a computer or tablet.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to patrons, visitors, and staff by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations calmly and professionally, following established escalation and reporting procedures.
Conduct regular and random patrols throughout library facilities, public areas, staff spaces, entrances, and the exterior perimeter to identify and report unusual conditions or policy concerns.
Help maintain an orderly and welcoming environment by communicating site rules, directing visitors, and addressing concerns professionally and respectfully.
Document incidents, observations, and patrol activity accurately and promptly, and communicate relevant information to site contacts and Allied Universal leadership.
