Part Time Weekend Security Officer

About The Position

BOS Security is hiring a part-time security officer for Gwinnett County Schools. The schedule is Saturdays and Sundays from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., as well as all holidays. The officer patrols school buildings and grounds, monitors access and activity, responds to security or safety concerns, and records inspections and incidents. Applicants must have a smartphone, a valid driver's license, and their own working transportation; drop-offs and public transportation are not accepted.

Requirements

Strong customer service skills.
Stable work history.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check; the position is subject to random drug testing.

Security, law enforcement, military, or other related experience and/or training is preferred.

Responsibilities

Be trained and qualified to work the assigned post and understand its specific, general, additional, and emergency instructions.
Make hourly patrols of buildings and grounds on foot.
Inspect doors, windows, and gates to ensure they are secure.
Warn people about rule violations and apprehend or remove people engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.
Inspect equipment and machinery for signs of tampering.
Watch for and report irregularities, including fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and unlocked security doors.
Observe departing personnel to guard against theft of client property.
Sound an alarm or call the police or fire department in the event of a fire or unauthorized persons.
Permit authorized people to enter the property and register at watch stations to record inspection times.
Record property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning machinery or equipment for supervisory staff.
Regulate vehicle and pedestrian traffic at access points.
Arrive on time, in uniform, and ready to work; maintain strong professional customer service.
Perform other duties as assigned.
