About The Position

The position is full or part time and includes evenings, weekends and holidays. If you have a high tolerance to remain level under pressure and can work as a team player, please apply! This role involves enforcing alcohol perimeters, controlling access to events, checking IDs, ensuring adherence to company policies, and general property security. The officer will conduct pat down searches and bag checks, operate company vehicles (trucks and snowmobiles) for property checks, respond to alarms, and interact with guests and individuals under various circumstances. Other duties may include transporting guests in a shuttle van and assisting with event setup, teardown, and cleanup.

Requirements

Must be at least 21 years of age
Must be able to communicate and handle confrontational and intoxicated event attendees
Must have a high tolerance to remain level under pressure and in stressful situations
Must think and work as a team player
Interact and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers and management consistent with Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation’s Service Excellence standards
Must successfully complete a background check
Must have valid driver’s license without limitations or restrictions and meet company’s insurability standards (will be required to complete Motor Vehicle Record)
Must communicate clearly in English both verbally and in writing
Must stand for long periods of time
Must bend down to “frisk” for hidden alcohol on guests attending event
Expected to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. (i.e. cattle guards for event perimeters)
Must work mostly outdoors, sometimes in extreme heat, cold and inclement weather

Previous security experience helpful but not required
Previous guest service experience helpful but not required
Spanish a plus
Criminal Justice Degree helpful but not required

Responsibilities

Enforce alcohol perimeter (into/out of events) while maintaining a professional and respectful demeanor
Control access to events
ID and ensure that event attendees are 21 years and older
Ensure adherence to Company Policies
General Property Security (Help secure property before, during and after events)
Conduct pat down searches and bag checks for alcohol compliance
Operate company vehicle (trucks and snowmobile) 50% of time in varying terrain and conditions
Responsible for hourly security checks of all Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation properties
Respond to fire and or burglar alarms as necessary
Deal with guests and other individuals under varying circumstances
May be required to transport guests in shuttle van
Compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements
Set up, tear down, and cleanup of events
Other duties, as assigned
