About The Position

As a Security Officer TWIC Patrol Observation in Portsmouth, Virginia, you will serve and safeguard clients at a government maritime transportation location. In this unarmed patrol role, you will conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents, monitor assigned areas, and communicate professionally with visitors and personnel. You will provide customer service and support security operations through teamwork, integrity, and a people-first approach. This is a part-time position scheduled Fridays and Sundays from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., paying $18.00 per hour.

Requirements

Possess a TSA-issued TWIC.
Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Submit to a background investigation, as a condition of employment and in accordance with applicable laws.
Submit to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to personnel, visitors, contractors, and drivers by following site-specific procedures, access-control requirements, and emergency response activities.
Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of assigned buildings, parking areas, access points, perimeter areas, and waterfront-adjacent locations; report unusual conditions and potential hazards.
Monitor entrances, gates, and restricted areas; verify authorized access according to site policies; maintain accurate visitor, vehicle, and incident documentation.
Respond calmly to incidents, alarms, medical situations, and critical events; notify appropriate site contacts or emergency responders as directed.
Help deter unauthorized activity through a professional presence, observation, and timely reporting of suspicious behavior, damaged property, and security-related concerns.
