About The Position

The Security Officer is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, overseeing, and integrating safety and security programs for the Center. This role ensures and enforces all laws, rules, and policies within their scope of authority, conducts foot patrols of assigned areas, and remains alert for disturbances, fires, safety hazards, traffic violators, suspicious acts and/or persons, and other unusual conditions. The Security Officer also aids and assists visitors, student employees, and staff, performs building security and safety checks, receives complaints and performs appropriate investigations, and provides transportation service as needed. Additionally, they investigate vehicle accidents, issue visitor passes and temporary parking permits, perform main entrance duty, assist staff in quelling disturbances, and prepare written accident and other required reports. The role involves coordinating the recruiting, selecting, and training of security cadets, participating in the preparation and enforcement of the Center’s safety and fire prevention program, and conducting daily briefings with security cadets. The Security Officer provides written and oral reports, briefings, or summaries to appropriate staff, ensures all equipment is properly maintained, and performs vehicle checks on entering and exiting traffic. They adhere to required property control policies and procedures, work towards meeting performance standard goals, and comply with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulation, Quality Assurance Plan (QAP), Bizzell policies and procedures, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures. Maintaining good housekeeping and complying with safety practices are essential. The Security Officer follows the CDSS plan and Code of Conduct system daily, helps students become more employable, demonstrates and abides by The Bizzell Group’s core values and operating principles, and models, mentors, and monitors appropriate Career Success Standards. Participation in PRH-mandated staff training is mandatory. The role includes assisting in maintaining student security and accountability during training, day and evening, by continuously walking through student areas and monitoring grounds over the entire Center, and performing other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge in operating security and surveillance equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic security procedures.
  • High level of good judgment and observation skills.
  • Two years of security, law enforcement, military, or related experience.
  • Valid State Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

  • Safety-related training is preferred.
  • At least one year in a residential living setting and a background in youth programs are preferred.
  • Associate's Degree preferred.

Responsibilities
