About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a part-time Armed Security Officer in Portsmouth, Virginia, serving a manufacturing and industrial location. The officer will help safeguard employees, visitors, and clients by maintaining a visible security presence, conducting armed patrols, monitoring access, and responding professionally to security-related concerns. The role emphasizes customer service, clear communication, teamwork, reliability, and integrity. The position pays $17.95 per hour. The stated schedule is Tuesday and Sunday, 11:00 PM–7:00 AM. Employees can use Allied Universal’s Claim a Shift platform to view and claim additional shifts. The role includes paid training and access to career growth opportunities.

Requirements

Possess an armed guard card or license.
Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Submit to a background investigation, as a condition of employment and in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
Submit to a drug screen, to the extent permitted by law.
Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
Meet applicable state and/or local licensing requirements, which may be required before employment.
Have a valid driver’s license only if the position involves driving.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to personnel, visitors, and contractors while following site-specific security procedures, access requirements, and emergency response activities.
Monitor access points, verify authorized entry, maintain visitor and contractor logs, and report access concerns according to site policies.
Respond calmly and professionally to incidents, alarms, and critical situations, following established escalation and emergency procedures.
Conduct regular and random armed patrols of buildings, production areas, parking areas, and perimeter locations to deter unauthorized activity and identify security concerns.
Accurately document observations, incidents, and patrol activity, and communicate relevant information to Allied Universal leadership and site contacts.
