About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a Security Professional Branch Flex Officer to safeguard clients across a range of industries, including healthcare, education, finance, and retail. The position provides hands-on experience at varied sites and an opportunity to develop within the security industry. The role is based in San Jose, California, and pays $24.04 per hour.

The schedule is 30–40 hours per week and varies week to week, combining manager-assigned shifts with shifts selected through the Earn More, Claim-A-Shift self-scheduling program. Shifts, days, locations, and assignments change regularly. Officers should expect irregular shifts with little to no advance notice to meet client needs.

The officer conducts patrols and observes site conditions, responds to security or safety concerns, controls access, documents incidents, and assists customers, employees, and visitors. Employment is subject to applicable background and drug screening requirements. State or local licensing may be required before employment.

Requirements

• Must be available to work varying shifts, including holidays, nights, and weekends.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must be available for last-minute shift scheduling.
• Must be able to travel the required distance to assigned locations.
• Must be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; armed roles require applicants to be at least 21.
• Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Applicants are subject to a background investigation in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
• Applicants are subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements depend on state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license is required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to speak, read, and write in multiple languages, such as Spanish, Portuguese, French, or Arabic.
• Prior security, military, or law enforcement experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform security patrols of designated areas on foot or in a vehicle.
• Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards.
• Sound alarms or call police or fire departments in case of fire or unauthorized persons.
• Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles.
• Permit authorized persons to enter property and monitor entrances and exits.
• Observe departing personnel to protect against theft of company property and ensure authorized property removal meets client requirements.
• Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities; maintain written logs as required by the post.
• Aid customers, employees, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
• Make emergency notifications as necessary under site Post Orders.
