About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a part-time unarmed Security Officer to support an educational location in Chicago, Illinois. The officer will conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, respond to concerns, and provide customer service to students, staff, visitors, and guests. The role involves working in museum galleries, public spaces, classrooms, offices, and the surrounding perimeter.

The position is scheduled Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM and pays $19.50 per hour. Applicants are subject to a background investigation and drug screen as permitted by law. State or local licensing may be required before employment.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Applicants are subject to a background investigation in accordance with applicable laws.
• Applicants are subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• State and/or local licensing requirements may apply and may be required before employment.

Nice To Haves

• CPR certification is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• A Guard Card/License is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to visitors, students, faculty, staff, and guests by following site-specific security procedures, policies, and emergency response activities.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of museum galleries, public spaces, classrooms, offices, and the surrounding perimeter, and report unusual conditions or activity.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity, provide directions and general information, and help maintain an orderly environment for collections, programs, and events.
• Respond calmly to incidents, alarms, and critical situations; notify appropriate personnel and complete required reports.
• Help deter unauthorized access, theft, vandalism, and other security-related concerns through a professional presence and adherence to post orders.
