About The Position

The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and professional environment within Elmcor’s Campus Buildings. This position serves as the first point of contact for employees, visitors, vendors, and community partners, ensuring controlled access to the facility, monitoring building security, responding to incidents, and supporting a welcoming atmosphere while safeguarding agency personnel, property, and assets.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid New York State Security Guard License and F-01 required.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and decisive during emergencies and high-pressure situations.
  • Knowledge of security procedures, emergency response protocols, and conflict de-escalation techniques.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior security experience in an office, nonprofit, government, healthcare, or community-based setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Control access to the Administrative Building by verifying identification, maintaining visitor logs, issuing visitor passes, and enforcing security procedures.
  • Conduct routine patrols around all campus buildings and monitor surveillance systems, alarms, and access controls to identify and respond to security risks, suspicious activity, and safety concerns.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies, incidents, disturbances, medical situations, and fire alarms, coordinating with emergency responders and agency personnel as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including daily activity logs, visitor records, incident reports, and security-related records in compliance with agency policies.
  • Promote a safe and secure environment by conducting safety inspections, reporting hazards, enforcing agency policies, and participating in emergency preparedness activities.
  • Serve as a professional point of contact for employees, visitors, and vendors while maintaining effective communication with leadership, facilities staff, and external partners.
  • Other duties as assigned.
