About The Position

Colonial Downs Group (CDG) is seeking a Part-Time Security Officer responsible for providing a high level of guest service to all guests, team members, and vendors. This role ensures the safety and security of the property and its patrons by responding to security incidents and maintaining a visible security presence both inside and outside the facility. The Security Officer will observe patrons participating in gambling activities to detect and respond to infractions of house rules, maintaining a high level of professionalism, customer service, and integrity in all interactions.

Requirements

• Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
• Successful completion of training programs as required by jurisdiction and property.
• Ability to communicate and comprehend information and ideas in spoken and written English.
• Ability to accept, prioritize, and follow through on work direction.
• Ability to function well in a fast-paced and at times stressful environment.
• Ability to remain calm, utilizing rational thinking and decision-making by employing conflict-resolution.
• Ability to work with both guests and fellow Team Members in a professional and courteous manner, promoting positive customer relations for all by providing prompt, courteous and efficient service.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Minimum of one (1) year experience in customer service, law enforcement, military, or security, or pursuing a degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, or a related field.
• Basic computer skills required, such as knowledge of Word and ability to learn and utilize menu-driven programs.
• Must obtain valid racing license, where applicable.
• May be required to hold a valid driver’s license with a minimum of three year’s driving experience.

Responsibilities

• Providing a high level of guest service to all guests, Team Members, and vendors.
• Ensuring the safety of all guests and Team Members of the property.
• Recording investigation and incident reports in a timely manner.
• Assisting with the transfer of money throughout the property.
• Patrolling property during shift to ensure safety.
• Maintaining property rules, policies, and regulations as set by the Company and the Virginia Racing Commission (VRC).
• Standing posts in various locations for extended times as assigned.
• Controlling and diffusing potential problems and assisting Team Members and guests in emergencies.
• Controlling access to the property and restricted areas.
• Responding to calls for assistance immediately.
• Maintaining radio contact with base during assigned shift.
• Checking identification for gaming floor admittance, greeting guests and vendors positively and professionally.
• Maintaining crowd control, ensuring a friendly environment and defusing guest incidents.
• Composing written reports; observing, handling, and reporting procedural violations and illegal activity.
• Reporting to supervisor/manager on day-to-day activities.
• Attending periodic meetings and training sessions.
• Performing other duties as assigned.
