About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a part-time Security Officer Enhanced Part Time Screener in Somerset, New Jersey. The role provides a fixed weekly shift at an assigned site, with a six-month commitment, and the option to claim additional shifts through a scheduling platform. Employees may increase their hours up to 40 hours per week or scale back as needed. The listed pay rate is $18.00 per hour. The schedule is Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM and Thursday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

The Security Officer provides customer service while carrying out site-specific screening procedures and policies, and may participate in emergency response activities when appropriate. Duties include screening people and deliveries, monitoring entry and exit points, verifying authorization, documenting screening activity, responding to incidents, and conducting patrols at the distribution location and its perimeter. Work environments and conditions may vary by site.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years old for unarmed roles or 21 years old for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Submit to a background investigation as a condition of employment, in accordance with applicable laws.
• Submit to a drug screen as a condition of employment, to the extent permitted by law.
• Meet applicable state and/or local licensing requirements, which may be required before employment.
• Have a valid driver’s license if applying for a driving position.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to clients, visitors, and/or employees while following site-specific screening procedures and policies, and participate in emergency response activities when appropriate.
• Screen individuals, packages, and/or deliveries according to established site procedures; report prohibited items, irregularities, or access concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Monitor entry and exit points, verify credentials or authorization as assigned, and maintain accurate screening-related documentation.
• Respond calmly to incidents and critical situations, using problem-solving skills and communicating observations to supervisors and/or emergency personnel.
• Conduct regular and random patrols around the distribution location and perimeter to help deter unauthorized activity.
