Security Officer -Richmond International Airport (RICCG1)
About The Position
The Security Officer helps protect airport facilities, passengers, and staff. The role includes conducting security checks on passengers, baggage, and cargo using screening equipment and established protocols; remaining alert to and responding to threats, emergencies, and security breaches; and coordinating with law enforcement and airport personnel when needed. The officer also maintains records, enforces security policies, complies with applicable regulations, and provides courteous customer service. The position requires flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Work may take place indoors and outdoors and may involve prolonged standing and walking, lifting up to 70 pounds, exposure to noise and outdoor elements, and working in confined spaces. Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment.
- Must hold a valid driver's license.
- Must communicate effectively in English in reading, writing, and speaking.
- Previous experience in a security-related role, preferably in an airport or similar setting.
- Training and certification in security procedures and screening equipment operation.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress situations.
- Knowledge of relevant security regulations and protocols.
- Ability to access and interpret printed and electronic information using devices such as iPads/tablets, computers, and mobile devices.
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients in person and electronically.
- Must pass a background check and drug screen.
- Must be eligible to acquire required credentials and clearances, as applicable, including FAA, RAIC, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs, and U.S. Postal credentials.
- Must be flexible to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
- Ability to hear and respond to spoken voices and audible alarms.
- Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Responsibilities
- Patrol airport facilities to help ensure the safety and security of the premises.
- Monitor surveillance equipment and report suspicious activity.
- Conduct security checks at designated airport checkpoints.
- Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances promptly.
- Inspect and verify passenger documentation and luggage.
- Collaborate with law enforcement and emergency responders during incidents.
- Enforce airport regulations and security policies.
- Assist passengers and staff professionally and courteously.
- Prepare detailed reports of daily activities and irregularities.
- Escort unauthorized persons from restricted areas.
- Conduct risk assessments and provide security recommendations.
- Participate in security briefings and ongoing training programs.
- Manage crowd control and help ensure orderly passenger flow.
- Provide first aid and assistance during emergencies.
- Maintain alertness and vigilance.
- Demonstrate PrimeFlight customer service and safety standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
