About The Position

The Security Officer helps ensure the safety and security of airport facilities, passengers, and staff. The role involves monitoring access to secure airport areas, verifying credentials, screening passengers and belongings, and operating security equipment. Officers remain vigilant for threats or breaches, respond to alerts and emergencies, coordinate with law enforcement and airport personnel, and maintain records of checkpoint activities. They also enforce security policies, assist passengers, and provide courteous, professional service while complying with applicable regulations.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Be legally authorized to work in the country of employment.
• Hold a valid driver's license.
• Effectively communicate in English in reading, writing, and speaking.
• Be able to access and interpret information in print and electronically, including using iPads/tablets, computers, and mobile devices.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and clients in person and electronically.
• Pass a background check and drug screen.
• Be eligible to acquire required credentials and clearances, as applicable, including FAA, RAIC, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs, and U.S. Postal credentials.
• Be flexible to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Be able to perform the essential requirements of the job, with reasonable accommodation where applicable.
• Be able to lift up to 70 pounds.
• Be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods in indoor or outdoor environments, as applicable.
• Be able to reach, grasp, push, pull, crawl, crouch, bend, stretch, squat, kneel, and climb, including working at elevated heights and in confined spaces as needed.
• Be able to hear and respond to spoken voices and audible alarms.
• Have the vision abilities required for the job, including close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and control access to secure areas of the airport.
• Verify credentials and access permissions of personnel and visitors.
• Operate security equipment such as metal detectors and X-ray machines.
• Conduct physical inspections of bags and personal items as required.
• Manage passenger and staff flow through security checkpoints.
• Respond to security alerts and coordinate with law enforcement when necessary.
• Maintain logs and records of security checkpoint activities.
• Assist and inform passengers about security procedures.
• Consistently enforce airport security policies and regulations.
• Participate in security drills and emergency response exercises.
• Immediately report suspicious activity or security breaches.
• Assist with evacuations of airport areas during emergencies.
• Collaborate with airport personnel to maintain a safe environment.
• Stay informed about threat levels and security protocol changes.
• Provide courteous and professional service to support passenger satisfaction.
• Follow PrimeFlight customer service and safety standards.
• Perform additional duties assigned by management.
