About The Position

As a Security Officer Transitional Shelter in South Ozone Park, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Transitional Shelters. Join Allied Universal as an unarmed patrol officer at a shelter location, where you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help reduce security-related incidents, and support residents, staff, and visitors with exceptional customer service and communication. Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to residents, guests, staff, and/or visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and/or critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, documenting observations and reporting concerns to site leadership when needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the location, including common areas, entrances, exits, and perimeter areas, to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify unusual conditions.
  • Monitor access to the location by observing entry and exit activity, verifying authorized access when required, and communicating professionally with individuals seeking assistance.
  • Support a respectful environment within a residential shelter setting by addressing policy-related concerns, assisting with de-escalation when appropriate, and contacting emergency services and/or supervisors as needed.
