Requirements

  • Possess a valid armed guard card or license.
  • A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • Possess at least two years of law enforcement, military, or corrections experience.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to staff, visitors, inmates, and authorized personnel while carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities at a government corrections location.
  • Conduct regular and random armed patrols of assigned interior and exterior areas, including perimeter zones, access points, parking areas, and other designated locations.
  • Monitor access to restricted areas, verify credentials, observe activity, and report unauthorized access, suspicious behavior, and policy violations in accordance with site procedures.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, coordinating with corrections personnel and emergency responders as appropriate.
  • Prepare accurate reports and maintain required logs regarding patrols, incidents, access activity, and other security-related observations.
