As an Access Control Officer at a busy utilities location, you will help manage site entry, verify credentials, monitor assigned areas, and conduct routine patrols to help support a secure environment. Requirements

  • Possess a valid New York State Security Guard License.
  • Possess a valid TSA issued TWIC.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Be comfortable using a computer or tablet preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to visitors, employees, and contractors by carrying out site-specific access control procedures, credential verification, visitor processing, and other security-related policies at a utility location.
  • Monitor entry and exit points, review identification and authorization, and help to deter unauthorized access to restricted areas, critical infrastructure, and operational spaces.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and communicate with site contacts, supervisors, and/or emergency personnel as needed.
  • Document visitor activity, access-related events, and unusual conditions in required logs and reports, following post orders and Allied Universal protocols.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around buildings, gates, control points, and perimeter areas, noting conditions and reporting maintenance, access, and/or security-related concerns.
