About The Position

As a Security Officer Ferry Terminal Control Access in New York, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Unarmed Security Officer supporting a public ferry transportation location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, and assist passengers, visitors, and staff with professionalism. You will communicate clearly, respond to routine concerns, and contribute to a welcoming environment while reflecting Allied Universal’s agile, reliable, innovative, caring, team-focused culture and commitment to integrity.

Requirements

  • Possess a valid New York State Security Guard License.
  • Have at least one year of security-related experience.
  • Provide proof of a high school diploma or GED.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to passengers, visitors, and personnel by carrying out site-specific procedures, access-control protocols, and emergency response activities at a public transportation ferry location.
  • Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of assigned terminal areas, passenger waiting areas, entrances, exits, waterfront-adjacent spaces, and perimeter areas to help identify and report unusual conditions or unauthorized activity.
  • Monitor access points and observe passenger and vehicle traffic, reporting suspicious activity, policy violations, maintenance concerns, and security-related incidents to appropriate personnel.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, medical situations, and critical events in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established post orders and contacting emergency services when appropriate.
  • Prepare clear, accurate reports and shift documentation regarding patrols, incidents, observations, and interactions with the public.
