About The Position

As a Security Officer Courthouse in San Luis Obispo, CA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As a Screener in a government courthouse location, you will help maintain a secure and welcoming environment by operating X-ray screening equipment, monitoring access points, and communicating professionally with visitors and staff. Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • X-ray screening experience is preferred.
  • Possession of a guard card or license is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to visitors, court staff, and the public by carrying out site-specific screening procedures, access policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
  • Screen individuals and personal property entering the courthouse using assigned screening equipment and procedures; identify prohibited items and follow established notification and documentation protocols.
  • Maintain a professional, calm, and courteous presence at screening checkpoints while directing visitors, answering general questions, and supporting orderly entry into the facility.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, coordinating with court personnel and law enforcement as directed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned public areas, entry points, and the facility perimeter to help deter unauthorized activity and report security-related concerns.
