About The Position

This is a full-time, in-house proprietary security position. Our officers are assigned to a consistent site and are part of a long-term team — not moved from contract to contract. You’ll work with company leadership, operate with professional standards, and be supported with the equipment and benefits needed to build a stable career. As a Security Officer, you’ll play a key role in protecting the people, property, and operations of the World's Largest Underground Business Complex™, SubTropolis. You’ll patrol designated areas, enforce company policies and local laws, respond to emergencies, and serve as a visible, trusted presence for tenants, employees, and guests. From incident response to routine inspections, you’ll contribute to a culture of accountability, professionalism, and operational readiness.

Requirements

  • At least one year of experience as an armed security officer
  • Strong situational awareness, sound judgment, and a calm, confident presence
  • Comfortable enforcing rules and local laws
  • Ability to interact professionally with tenants, employees, and the public
  • Valid Class A Armed Private Security Officer License issued by the Kansas City Board of Police Commissioners
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license for operating company vehicles on patrol
  • Ability to respond calmly and effectively in stressful or emergency situations
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to de-escalate conflict and communicate with professionalism
  • Familiarity with law enforcement procedures, safety inspections, and emergency response best practices
  • Strong attention to detail in observation, documentation, and decision-making
  • Ability to work independently and follow established procedures with sound judgment
  • Commitment to ethical conduct, confidentiality, and team collaboration
  • Physical ability to walk long distances and respond quickly on foot when necessary
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment psychological evaluation

Responsibilities

  • Patrol assigned areas of SubTropolis to monitor for safety hazards, unauthorized activity, and general compliance with Hunt Midwest policies and local laws
  • Enforce company regulations, municipal ordinances, and state/federal laws under the authority granted by the KCPD Private Officers Licensing Unit
  • Respond to incidents involving trespassing, disturbances, motor vehicle accidents, and medical emergencies with professionalism and care
  • Conduct routine inspections of lighting, fire protection systems, and other critical safety infrastructure
  • Serve as a courteous and helpful presence to employees, tenants, and visitors, offering assistance, directions, or escorts as needed
  • Respond to service calls in a prompt and customer-focused manner, prioritizing the safety of all individuals on Hunt Midwest property
  • Represent the Hunt Midwest Security team with integrity, discretion, and strong interpersonal judgment
  • Complete accurate, timely reports following incidents, enforcement actions, or service-related calls
  • Document findings from inspections and patrols according to department protocols
  • Maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and uphold the standards of the Security department in all aspects of the role
  • Participate in trainings, briefings, or special assignments as required by Security leadership
