About The Position

As a Security Officer Armed Perimeter Access in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Cultural Institutions, and more. As an Armed Security Officer at a cultural institution, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, and support access control. Requirements

  • Have at least one year of armed security-related, law enforcement, or military experience.
  • Possess an armed guard card or license.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Access control and badge experience is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to visitors, staff, and community members by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities at a cultural institution and community service location.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, medical situations, and critical events in a calm, problem-solving manner, notifying appropriate personnel and/or emergency services as needed.
  • Conduct regular and random armed patrols of interior spaces, exterior grounds, entry points, parking areas, and perimeter areas to help deter unauthorized activity.
  • Monitor access points and visitor activity, verify credentials when required, and report unusual conditions or policy violations to site leadership and Allied Universal supervision.
  • Prepare clear, accurate reports for incidents, patrol observations, and other security-related activities in accordance with site procedures.
