Security Officer 1 (Midnight to 8:00 AM) - Wernersville State Hospital
About The Position
This position focuses on maintaining the safety and security of patients, staff, visitors, and property across a large hospital campus. You help ensure order, address concerns, and support daily operations throughout all areas of the facility. As a Security Officer 1, you will perform the following duties: Campus Patrols: Survey buildings, tunnels, and grounds to identify hazards, unauthorized persons, or unusual conditions Conduct Monitoring: Observe behavior of patients, visitors, and staff to help maintain orderly and safe surroundings Traffic Oversight: Enforce parking and vehicle regulations to support smooth and safe travel on hospital property Incident Response: Assist with missing patient searches, preliminary investigations, and escort needs across the facility Emergency Support: Coordinate with fire, police, and medical teams during urgent situations and provide clear directions Record Keeping: Document activities, observations, and incidents in daily logs and structured reports
Requirements
- Must be in possession of a valid Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle operator's license.
- Must meet the PA residency requirement.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
