About The Position

The Security Manager manages an assigned team within the MillerKnoll Security department in order to achieve the operational objectives. The teams or functions are typically but not limited to Patrol, Operations, Retail, International or Technical Systems roles. The Security Managers are responsible for their team's functions, actions and goal achievement. The Security Managers are the front-line communicators with their functional team and the organizational leaders at their assigned locations. As leaders they must possess above average leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or related field; or equivalent education and experience.
  • 5-7 years of experience in a professional role providing leadership or project management skills.
  • Strong leadership, listening and conflict resolution skills.
  • Adept at resolving conflict within team environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Systemic thinking along with strong computer and software skills required.
  • Expert relationship builder at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously in time critical situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, respond to changing priorities and accomplish the goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and understand issues and then make appropriate decisions.
  • Possess knowledge or background with security technologies.
  • Must be capable of presenting a professional demeanor and appearance in all manner of situations and conditions.
  • Valid driver's license, good driving record and a reliable means of transportation is required.
  • Must be in good physical condition and be able to perform essential functions of the job.
  • Must be able to perform all essential functions of the position with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the assigned team through project work as outlined by the annual team chart of work, goals and objectives.
  • Becomes extremely familiar with the facilities and occupants in their geographic area including, but not limited to, organizational staff, emergency systems and procedures, utility shut off points, alarm systems, card access systems, and CCTV systems.
  • Authors and maintains written protocols and procedures for their assigned function or area.
  • Follows up on actions of the team or shift events.
  • Effectively communicates the activities and findings of the Security function to the various levels of management in an effective, accurate and timely manner.
  • Develops project management plans for new processes or applications to be implemented across the MillerKnoll portfolio.
  • Prioritizes work load based upon urgency; able to delegate task.
  • Plans and manages multiple tasks, projects, schedules and related budget.
  • Identifies and recommends solutions for process improvement and employs solutions based upon systemic thinking.
  • Responsible for hiring, on-boarding, training, performance management of team staff.
  • Provides expectations, teaching, coaching, encouragement as well as formal performance reviews or discipline as necessary.
  • Provides effective leadership of both assigned employees and any contracted services.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.
